Since its release in February, the Black Panther film has earned a number of accolades and broken various records and now the film has scored another huge milestone!
This weekend, Black Panther’s total earnings are estimated to have reached $665.4 million which makes it the third highest-earning movie in North American history. The previous holder of the third place spot was James Cameron’s 1997 drama, Titanic, with its earnings sitting approximately at $659.5 million.
Despite this, James Cameron’s 2009 sci-fi blockbuster, Avatar, sits comfortably as the second highest-grossing film with an impressive $760.5 million. Star Wars: The Force Awakens holds the crown with a whopping $936.7 million. Considering Black Panther is still being shown in cinemas, we can expect the movie to continue to rake in the cash as time goes on.
The film’s new record comes a week after the film entered the top ten highest-grossing films in the world, and it recently became the biggest-grossing superhero movie of all time.
With all the success Black Panther has achieved since its release, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to expect the film to reach more milestones in the near future.
