The trailer has been released for the upcoming movie Boogie, in which the late, great Pop Smoke makes his posthumous acting debut.

Due for release on March 5th 2021, Boogie tells a coming of age story of high-school student Alfred “Boogie” Chin – played by Taylor Takahashi – who dreams of becoming a basketball star.

However, Boogie faces a few challenges on his way to greatness, such as his on-court rival Monk, who’s played by Pop Smoke. The film will also feature unreleased music from Pop, as well as a camero from fellow New York rapper, Dave East.

A synopsis in the description of the trailer reads: “From acclaimed writer, producer and restaurateur Eddie Huang comes his directorial debut BOOGIE, the coming-of-age story of Alfred “Boogie” Chin, a basketball phenom living in Queens, New York, who dreams of one day playing in the NBA.

“While his parents pressure him to focus on earning a scholarship to an elite college, Boogie must find a way to navigate a new girlfriend, high school, on-court rivals and the burden of expectation.
