The arrival of Borderlands 3 has been teased on social media and more details are expected to arrive very soon.

Ahead of the PAX East event which will take place in Boston at the ending of this month and will showcase new gaming releases at a series of events within the festival, Gearbox Games, the studio behind the game, have teased several new releases on Twitter.

Gearbox Games have put out several tweets which hint at important annoucements for the PAX event and have teased fans with pixelated images and visual codes. Check out some of the tweets below.

The tweets include an image of a road sign taken from the fictional Borderlands universe of Pandora, edited images of characters from the game and pixelated images that appear to be taken from the pending new release.

Sources say that Gearbox will announce four games in total at the PAX East event however there are few clues which indicate what these titles are likely to be and the hints all point to Borderlands 3 being their biggest upcoming release.

The first Borderlands title was released in 2009 and the first person shooter has since been followed up with the sequels, Borderlands 2 in 2012 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel in 2014.

Following its release, the series has become one of the best selling video game franchises of all time and joins the likes of Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty as a franchise with strong fan support and a cult following.
