The lyrics to “Vossi Bop” are clearly being misunderstood by one of the UK’s top politicians.

Boris Johnson recently had an interview where the top runner for Prime Minister thanked Stormzy for his “rousing endorsement of the ‘Back Boris’ campaign”.

Referring to the infamous lyrics to “Vossi Bop” which are as follows, “Fuck the government, fuck Boris”,  Johnson responded to the lyrics and claimed that there was “some problem with the acoustics that caused (Stormzy) to be briefly misunderstood” and the lyrics to sound like “fuck Boris” instead of “back Boris”.

Is anyone going to tell Boris the truth or should we?

Boris Johnson also said, “I want to pay tribute to Stormzy. I am a great enthusiast and admirer of Mr Stormzy’s works. And I think he’s one of the great lyricists and poets of our times”.

Listen to Boris’ interview below.

The lyrics to “Vossi Bop” is not the first time Stormzy has expressed a political stance. The artist has publicly supported Jeremy Corbyn and used his Brit Awards performance to call out the government and Prime Minister Theresa May for the lack of support and help for survivors of the Grenfell Tower tragedy; many of which are still without permanent accommodation.
