UK Prime Minister and Leader of the Conservative Party, Boris Johnson, is set to be reimagined onscreen in an upcoming new series.

Titled This Sceptred Isle, Tenet star Kenneth Branagh will play Boris Johnson and portray the politician in 2020 as he battled with the global Covid-19 pandemic.

On the series, the writer and director Winterbottom said, “The first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic will be remembered forever. A time when the country came together to battle an invisible enemy. A time when people were more aware than ever of the importance of community.

“Our series weaves together countless true stories — from Boris Johnson in Number 10 to front line workers around the country — chronicling the efforts of scientists, doctors, care home workers and policy makers to protect us from the virus.”

The series is expected to “tell the tale of some of the most devastating events to ever befall the United Kingdom, and of a Prime Minister leading in these unprecedented times.”

As well as exploring Boris’ time spend in hospital as he personally was struck down with the virus, This Sceptred Isle is also expected to touch on things from a SAGE and a care home perspective.

With the series set to air in 2022, hopefully the programme will make from retrospective watching rather than a recounting of present day reality.

In other Boris Johnson news, the prime minister recently released his roadmap out of lockdown which will begin to take effect in March.

The process will begin with kids returning to school and adults being allowed to meet one person outside of their household for outdoor socialisation.
