Brampton Manor Academy, a top state school in London, has received more Oxbridge offers than Eton College for the first time

The school, which is based in Newham, east london, has said that 55 of its pupils have received conditional offers to study at either Oxford of Cambridge.

Eton College, where Boris Johnson attended, on the other hand has secured 48 conditional offers.

Taking to Twitter to announce the big news, Bramptom Manor wrote: “Despite the covid pandemic, a record 55 students have shown resilience and determination to secure offers from two of the most prestigious universities in the world: Oxford and Cambridge. Well done.”

In 2012, Bramptom Manor established it’s sixth form with the hopes to get more disadvantaged students into top leading universities.

In 2014, one of its students received an Oxbridge offer. By 2018, 25 pupils had received an offer and the number increased to 41 by 2019.

Brampton Manor was described as having “relentless ambition and high expectations” in the latest Ofsted report.
