Recent BBC documentary Britain’s Forgotten Men looks at the crime and poverty in Manchester and how knife crime has risen up to 41% in the last ten years in the major city.
The mini episode follows three young men including Jack. Jack grew up in South Manchester where he spent a majority of his childhood. He retells the stories of his troubled childhood, committing crimes in the city and spending time in prison at the tender age 13. The story follows two other men who grew up in Manchester where they retell stories of being burgled, retaliating carrying knives in order to stay protected.
Knife crime has gone up to 21% and the majority of victims are young men. With the police looking at reasons why knife crime as risen in the recent years throughout the UK very few fail to look at what is causing the issue and how this can be resolved.
