Buzzfeed have this week published an article on gang crime and policing which places rap groups 67 and Harlem Spartans in an unfortunate position.
In the article, author Hannah Al-Othman writes, “Tonight, the unmarked patrol car pulls into the New Park Road estate, where the 67 gang operate. The officers see two men get out of a car. On spotting the police, the men change direction. This is enough to arouse suspicion.
“As suspected, one of the men is a known associate of the 67 gang, who has been caught with a knife in the past.”
Scribz of 67 has taken to Instagram to respond to the allegations, which you can see in full below.
The article also brands Kennington drill crew Harlem Spartans a “gang”, as well as including the very questionable quote, “Tonight, almost all of the people the team stopped were black.
“When asked about this, [PC] Williams says it’s is simply down to the fact that most of the gang members in this area are black.”
Hopefully the matter can be resolved, as we expect Buzzfeed to respond to 67 and provide an explanation as to why their music group was mentioned.
