Back in 2018, Vine co-founder Dom Hofmann announced he was working on another short-form video app named Byte and now the app is finally here.

Available on iOS and Android, Byte allows users to record and uploads six-second videos in a similar fashion to Vine. The app also contains an explore page, notifications, a feed and profiles.

Although Byte sounds similar to other short-form video apps such as Tik-Tok and Triller, Hofmann hopes to make his new app different by allowing users to make money from creating content on Byte by offering monetisation options.

The launch of Byte comes just over two years after Dom Hofmann’s popular app, Vine, was shut down for good. Vine had helped boost the careers of many of today’s famous content creators such as King Bach and Logan Paul.

Byte has been in development since the end of Vine, with Hofmann launching a test version of the app last Spring, before officially launching the app a few days ago.
