Canadian officials have announced that as of April 10th 2018, the country’s Liberal government will take legislative steps to start legalising marijuana in an effort to have it legal by July next year.
The government is keen to ensure that the consumption of the drug is controlled, insisting on licenses and a minimum purchasing age of 18.
Each Canadian province is being given the freedom to adjust the minimum purchase age; they’re also being given the right to decide how the drug will be sold and distributed.
With plans to have the drug legal by Canada Day 2018, it’s also being suggested that Canadians will be able to grow their own marijuana plants for personal use. Oh, Canada.
