A large cannabis factory has been discovered in an east London police station which was closed down at the start of this year.
Yesterday (July 24), officers raided the former Isle of Dogs precinct on Manchester Road after it was alerted the premises were a “potential cannabis factory”.
“On arrival a large cannabis factory was found which is currently a crime scene with officers at the location,” a Met Police spokesperson said.
According to the Standard, hundreds of illegal plants were confiscated from the building which was sold by the Met in February.
The spokesperson added: “There has been no arrest and the investigation is ongoing.
“The Isle of Dogs police station was sold to a private company on February 25, 2022 and is no longer Metropolitan Police Service property.”
Speaking to the Standard, Isle of Dogs councillor Peter Golds said: “Two years ago we found a cannabis factory in a school in the borough and now this.”
It’s not the first time a drug farm has been found in a police station as a cannabis factory was found at the old Edgware precinct in Harrow back in April. More than 200 plants were removed from the building.
