New deal alert. Cash Money Records have announced the signing of a “power move” label deal with Apple Music.
Birdman’s Cash Money label who boast a roster that includes Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Young Money and Birdman himself, is now an official partner of the service – although in what capacity still remains unknown.
What we do know is that music mogul Birdman posted a pic on Instagram over the weekend declaring,
“It’s official… Cash Money makes a power move with Apple Music.”
Whatever the move entails, it’s likely to mean bad news for Apple’s competitors as it will no doubt include some form of exclusivity guarantee, with rumours circulating that the signing even involves the creation of a documentary about Cash Money and Birdman.
The picture Birdman posted on his Instagram shows posing with Apple Music’s head of content Larry Jackson – who plays a key role targeting artists, especially within the hip-hop/R&B world.
Time will tell just how big this affiliation will prove to be.
