In the early hours of this morning a plane crashed on the way to Medellin, Columbia.
Aboard the plane were nine crew members and 72 passengers, some of whom were in fact members of the Chapecoense football team, a first division Brazilian football team who were on their way to Colombia to compete in a tournament final. Early reports suggest that 76 have been pronounced dead and there have been only five survivors.
At this early stage there hasn’t been much revealed on the cause of the crash except that there seems to have been some sort of “electrical fault”.
It doesn’t seem that long ago that the mysterious flight MH370 disappeared on route to Beijing. It was in fact just over two years ago, and still to this day the reasons as to what actually happened remain unclear. With the dust still settling on this tragedy, a year later the world was shocked by another one, as a rogue German pilot deliberately flew his plane into the French Alps.
