Legendary comedian and Eddie Murphy’s brother, Charlie Murphy, has passed away today after a battle with cancer. He was 57-years-old.

His manager confirmed the news to TMZ this morning, stating that Murphy’s family were shocked as he had been undergoing chemotherapy and they believed he was on the mend.

The funny man was best known for his appearances on Dave Chappelle’s iconic Chappelle’s Show, specifically in the flashback sketches telling the stories of him and Dave’s 80s partying excursions with Prince and Rick James. He also wrote a lot of his brother’s movies, including Norbit and Vampire in Brooklyn.
