During their 2-1 defeat by Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, Chelsea fans were targeted with CS spray by police.

This is the second year in a row that Chelsea fans have been targeted, as police imposed strict measures on away supporters at PSG’s home ground, Parc des Princes.

Fans in the upper tier were forced to leave their seats just before Chelsea’s equaliser on the brink of half time, after the police used the tear gas to try and keep them calm in the stands.

The spray is designed to make it nearly impossible to breathe, and led to some fans retreating to the stadium’s concourse for shelter. According to the Daily Mail, some officers claimed that the spray had been let off by accident.

Supporters were threatened with further control measures in the second half of the game, but officers did not carry out the threat.
