As throw back styles from the bygone eras of the 80s and 90s continued to resurge this year, many brands have been able to breathe new life into some of their classic ranges.

adidas is one of the brands who’ve been leading the charge in this respect: a cursory glance at the adidas website will reveal some of the treasures these waves have washed up. Whether it’s the vintage V Stripe Windbreaker or the Adibreak Track Jacket, the classic style with a modern twist theme is evident.

adidas’s latest crep drop, the Prophere, is the perfect synthesis of the old and the new. The first thing you notice is the hard colourway; a smoky grey with flecks of orange offset by the white mid sole which really draws your eye. The Prophere looks to continue the trend of wide mid sole creps that have dominated the market.

Upon closer inspection you’ll notice some extra stitching covering a section of the toe box, which provides more support in an area that is particularly vulnerable in knit footwear, giving the Prophere that longevity. The iconic three stripes are located in the central part of the crep wrapped in suede with the rope laces pulled through; which looks hard while simultaneously being functional.

The Prophere is the perfect example of what’s possible when classic styles are redone with better, modern materials. You can cop them right now from JD, retailing at a reasonable £90.
