It’s been two weeks since Drake and 21 Savage’s “Her Loss” dropped and the hype is showing no signs of slowing down.

One of the most impactful tracks on the collaborative album was “Major Distribution” – a genre-blending, beat switch-fueled ode to how far both 21 and Drake have come. It was only right that another Toronto artist hopped on the beat to deliver their own take on it, and Da Crook has done just that.

The Toronto native has been on a hot streak all year, with recent releases such as “Chosen” making clear his intent to take over the Canadian scene and the world beyond. However, “Major Distribution Freestyle” really sees Da Crook get in his bag as we all know he can.

What’s perhaps most striking about this rendition is how Da Crook works with the structure of the original track but still makes it his own. As in the original song, it starts off slow, with Da Crook crooning “Major Distribution” before the inevitable beat switch hits and he proceeds to rap with swagger and aggression. Shot in the studio, the accompanying visuals retain the freestyle feel whilst also highlighting that this was lightwork for Da Crook.

It’ll be interesting to see how Da Crook’s trajectory to the top continues after this release; it might just be the sort of well timed release which can propel him to the next level.
