BBC Radio 5 presenter Danny Baker has been fired following a racist tweet he posted regarding the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby.
The tweet, which has since been deleted, displayed the image of a royal couple holding hands with a chimpanzee, accompanied by the caption “Royal Baby leaves hospital”.
A BBC Spokesperson has said of the tweet: “This is a serious error of judgement”.
“Danny’s a brilliant broadcaster but will no longer be presenting a weekly show with us”.
The presenter took to Twitter to apologise for the tweet, claiming he intended to make a joke about “Royals vs circus animals in posh clothes”.
Prior to this incident, Danny Baker had been axed once by 5 Live and twice by the BBC.
