Could everyone’s favourite Eastender be ditching Walford for the Tardis?

Since the current Doctor Who, Peter Capaldi, announced his departure from the show last month, fans have been keen to see who his replacement could be. And now Danny Dyer has thrown his hat into the ring for consideration.

Despite initially saying that he would be in Eastenders for the long haul, going so far as to say he wanted to do a “20-stretch”, it seems Dyer has been getting itchy feet at the soap. Speaking to the Sun on Sunday last month Dyer said “We’ll have to see then [at the end of the contract]. Four years is a long time. It’s been really rewarding but there’s other stuff out there. I’d love to show other sides to me. I loved theatre and all that.”

Maybe while he waits from the call from the theatre, Dyer could be getting stuck into some proper sci-fi. With the BBC on the hunt for a new Doctor, and with the recent revelation that Danny Dyer is actually descended from royalty, could the King of Albert Square be taking to different planets entirely?

Speaking to the Daily Star Dyer said, “I’d be interested in it. I could see myself in the scarf and all that. I think I could do it easy. I’d keep my accent too.”

So does that mean we can be expecting a cockney Doctor in the future? Fans are keen on the likes of The IT Crowd’s Richard Ayoade or Peep Show’s Olivia Colman to take over the role but we have our money on Danny.
