Two of the U.K’s frontrunner’s in Dave and Central Cee decide to start the week in memorable fashion, surprising the masses with the drop of their joint project Split Decision.
In what’s been a whirlwind 48-hours with both superstars celebrating their 25th milestones, it was only right fans have been gifted in return with the four-track E.P nothing short of special.
With many of us are still catching our breath from Thursday’s explosive release in “Sprinter”, the new E.P will give a new lease of life to listeners as each track brings in something unique.
Split Decision captures Dave and Central Cee in every musical pocket imaginable, as we see rhyming patterns, punchlines and the art of storytelling showcased in ways we haven’t seen before.
“Trojan Horse” is self-produced by Dave and sees the pair flex their lyrical armour on the project’s introduction. Self-reflection is showcased at its finest on standout track “Our 25th Birthday”, as we step in the shoes of both rappers who paint a picture of the lifestyle they have carved for themselves. The evolvement of U.K music is then understood on outro “UK Rap”.
The impressive project serves as an insight into what both can produce on a wider scale, as Santan and Cench complement each other’s artistry as they push their sound to an elite level. The argument could be made of this being U.K’s equivalent to Hov and Ye’s Watch The Throne, as Streatham and Shepherd’s Bush hold the torch high for their local icons.
