Dave and Fredo have done it! They have beaten Sam Smith and Calvin Harris to the top spot in the UK Official Charts with their big collaboration, “Funky Friday”.
Since its release on the 4th October, the single has racked up over 3.3 million views on YouTube and 4,107,821 streams on Spotify. It’s a massive achievement which proves how much of a dominant force UK Rap is currently within the mainstream.
The track, which also sees Dave showcase his production skills alongside 169, is a bass-heavy banger which sees both artists deliver their unique rap styles. The colourful visuals are just as captivating as the single itself, with many Twitter uses declaring it “video of the year”.
Dave isn’t new to chart success as his 2017 hit “No Words” featuring MoStack peaked at 17 in the Official Charts last November but this is a new level of excellence from the young star. Both himself, Fredo and the whole team involved have a lot to be proud of. After posting videos this week speaking of his how much this would mean to him, we’re sure Dave and Fredo will both be rightfully celebrating in style today.
