Dave’s new album We’re All Alone In This Together has officially taken the top spot in this week’s UK Albums Chart!
The news was revealed on BBC Radio 1 with Scott Mills (July 30) this afternoon where it was revealed Dave’s album came in at Number 1 in its debut week, beating Anne Marie’s Therapy and Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour which came in at Number 2 and Number 3 respectively.
With 74,000 chart sales, WAAITT has also secured the biggest opening week of 2021.
As well as making waves in the Albums Chart, Dave also dominated the Singles Chart as three tracks from the tape reached the top 10 – “Clash” with Stormzy (#2), “Verdansk” (#4) and “In The Fire” (#6).
Since its release last Friday, Dave’s second album We’re All Alone In This Together has received a huge amount of praise with many already labelling the project a future classic.
The LP contains twelve tracks with guest features from Stormzy, Wizkid, Snoh Aalegra, Boj and James Blake, as well as Ghetts, Giggs, Fredo and Meeks who make a surprise appearance on “In The Fire”.
The album is Dave’s second UK Number 1 album following his debut Psychodrama which took the top spot back in 2019.
Reacting to his new Number 1 album on Instagram, Dave wrote: “A lot of emotions but this is the work of the people, the best supporters on earth… my family and friends but most importantly God.
“For this we give God the glory. 74,000 album sales in 1 week and it’s God’s doing. It’s our number 1. History.”
Psychodrama went on to scoop up a number of awards, such as the 2019 Hyundai Mercury Prize, and we can expect WAAITT to do the same!
