Following the saddening news of the death of British singer and icon David Bowie, people from all corners of the globe have come together to mourn his departure.

None more so than residents in his hometown area of Brixton, who have been active in paying their tributes to the Pop legend.

The tributes have led to an unofficial street party being organised to celebrate Bowie’s life, in the main square outside of ‘The Ritzy’ in Brixton.

An event set up on Facebook has led to thousands of people clicking ‘Attending’ in what seems to be a makeshift attempt to create a street party.

The event page states: “please share with anyone you think would be able to help with music or any other element of this event – bring instruments, speakers, food and most importantly love”.

It’s all due to kickstart at 7pm tonight, so it may be worth checking it out and celebrating a true icon’s illustrious life!
