It’s been a great week in the charts for the scene. Most notably AJ Tracey and Not3s scored a top 20 single with their summer banger “Butterflies”. Like we predicted last week the tune has climbed from number 24 to 19; the sales/streams prove that the fans certainly approve of AJ’s decision to drop some wavey vocals.
Speaking of wavey vocals, Jorja Smith has been given probably the best belated 21st birthday present (yes we can’t believe it either); as her debut album Lost and Found has entered the charts at number 3, overtaking the likes of Ed Sheeran and Post Malone in the process.
EO’s “German” continues to dominate the airwaves and bandwidths alike still riding high at number 15. Although the tracks dominance isn’t only restricted to the metaphysical world, after witnessing it being spun at last weeks Who We Be in Brum, it’s safe to say that it shuts down raves as well!
The A$AP Rocky and Skeppy collab “Praise the Lord” was always going to fly. Last week it was at 39, this week it’s bullied its way into the number 21 spot. Skepta is most definitely one of those artists that will always get the utmost support from the UK, because we know how long and hard he has worked to get to where he is now. Skepta not only shows his lyrical prowess on this track, but he reminds us that before he picked up a mic he was actually an accomplished producer. Skepta actually sampled Total War (an old PC Game) on this track, like any great producer he draws his influences from a wide range of different areas.
“Bad Vibe” the other chart mainstay (10 weeks and counting) along with “German” takes the number 29 spot this week. We’re patiently waiting for another drop from the Birmingham duo, but Mr Eazi has treated us with another collaboration; this time calling in none other than the landlord on a track called “London Town”. “Answerphone” the Banx & Ranx, Ella Eyre and Yxng Bane track is just a few spots below at number 32. However we’re sure to see a lot more of Yxng Bane in next week’s charts as he features on Steel Banglez’s hard new one entitled “Your Lovin” definitely a future hit.
Dappy & Ay EM continue to steadily climb up the charts, claiming the number 34 spot this week; hot on their heels is Ramz with “Family Tree” at number 35- another tune that shut things down at last weeks Who We Be event.
Although the Jorja Smith single “Blue Lights” dropped in May, the success of the album has meant a lot of people have finally had the opportunity to hear the brilliant single and it has landed the number 38 spot. With more people listening we’re sure to see this rise up the ranks, be sure to check back next week to see how our favourites shape up.
