With just over a week till Christmas, artists much like us are winding down. Most artists are saving their big releases for the New Year. With the likes of Fredo promising his debut album entitled Third Avenue coming in February, he’s already given us an insight into what we can expect by releasing the hard tracklist which you can check out here.
Kamakaze has also promised us a sequel to his popular tape Royal Blud which dropped in January 2017. Jaykae has been an unstoppable force since he dropped Where have you been last year, shutting down shows up and down the country with cuts from what was undoubtedly one of the EPs of the year. Jaykae has taken to Twitter to promise us follow up to this hugely successful EP in the New Year, so we’ve definitely got plenty to look forward to in the first quarter of 2019.
Unsurprisingly Christmas tracks have dominated the charts once again this week. With the likes of Wham’s “Last Christmas”, “Fairytale of New York” by the Pogues, and of course Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas is you” have all entered the top ten this week.
Immune from the influx of Christmas cheer is one of the most inescapable tunes of the year “Zeze” by Kodak Black, Offset and Travis Scott. The tune is just outside the top ten coming in at number 13 this week and continues to do numbers as the year draws to a close.
Just outside the top 40 is Cadet and Deno Driz’s “Advice” which comes in at number 43 this week. The track has been doing wonders since it dropped, it has now spent 12 weeks in the charts and seven of those were spent in the top 40. The tracks peak position was number 28, which is an incredible feat for something which started out as an Instagram video.
After conquering the charts over the last ten weeks, Dave and Fredo’s “Funky Friday” has finally been toppled by the slew of Christmas tracks that have invaded the charts over the last few weeks. The track now sits at number 51; we’re likely to see Fredo back in the charts once more with his wavey collaboration with Yxng Bane “Problem” which GRM Daily premiered on Thursday – check that one out here. Bane’s solo entry on the charts is currently sitting at number 77 “Needed Time” from his wavey tape HBK.
“Airforce” remix featured one of the heaviest lines up of the year all on wax alongside one another. K Trap and the Play Dirty dons Krept and Kones tore the track up and helped propel it to new heights on the chart, as the tune entered the top 20 a few weeks ago. The tune now sits at number 55 after ten weeks in the charts, we’re excited to see what Digdat brings us next. Mostack also delivered us a wavey new banger to close out the year “Teach you Gangster” which entered the charts at number 83 this week, although this is surefire climber.
Be sure to check back next week for an update on all the latest happenings on the UK charts.
