Kanye West finally broke a two year silence with the release of Ye last Friday. As you can imagine the hordes of loyal fans streamed, downloaded or bought the good old fashioned physicals in abundance. The album has certainly been doing numbers, with numerous top 20 smatterings across the singles charts and debuting at number two on the album chart it’s been a great opening week for Mr West, with the release of his joint project with Kid Cudi, Kids See Ghosts we’re sure to be seeing a lot more of Kanye in the charts over the coming weeks. Let’s jump straight in and get a look at some of our very own home turf success stories.
The catchy inescapable “German” by EO is still the highest placing offering from one of our own coming in at number 14, just one lower than last week’s place, having already spent nine weeks in the charts, it’s been a whirlwind few weeks for the young EO. Keep it locked on GRM Daily to find out what he has in store for us next.
The story of this week’s chart is most certainly AJ Tracey and Not3s summer banger “Butterflies” coming straight in at number 24. The song has been something that AJ has been teasing on Twitter for a while now and has most definitely not disappointed. Showing he’s more than just a hard barrer, AJ opts to give us some wavey vocals. The visuals shot at the Trini Carnival shows the guys vibsing and having a great time, the tune is certain to climb the charts as it will no doubt end up in heavy rotation at BBQ’s and parties across the country. Slipping to number 25 is M/O Lotto Boyzz and Mr Eazi with “Bad Vibe” having already spent a whopping 19 weeks in the top 40 the track has already done incredible numbers.
Dappy and EM’s banger “Oh My” has climbed three places to number 36 and it’s clear that Dappy is making an impassioned return to charts; and having accumulated 4 and a half million views and counting on Youtube, it’s great to see a return to form from the former N-Dubz front man. A few spots below just inside the top 40 is “Praise the lord” the collaborative effort from A$AP Rocky and Skepta; which upon release was the number one trending video on Youtube.
It’s been over a year since we were blessed with a J Hus project. So to suggest that the release of Big Spang was long awaited would be an understatement. Although only a three track EP, it’s exactly what we need to tide us over until we are treated to a full length project. The entire EP charted, with “Dark Vader” placing the highest at number 41. We’re sure to see some movement as soon as The Hustler shoots some videos for the project. Be sure to check back next week to see who’s been doing numbers!
