Last week was one to remember when it comes album releases. Stateside, J Cole came through with his new project KOD that set new records in both the single and album charts. The album received the highest number of streams to date on Apple Music and was an undoubtedly amazing body of work. However, unsurprisingly, the UK came with their own mega-album offering in the form of Nines’ Crop Circle.
Nines has always been consistent when it comes to creating legendary projects and Crop Circle follows the mould. It’s debuted this week at number 5 in the charts, his second album in a row to debut in the top 5. It features the cream of the crop of artists, including Tiggs the Author, SL, Dave, J Styles and many more. Proving his creative abilities go beyond the mic, Nines released a short film to go alongside the release, which he wrote, directed and stars in, check that here. I See you Shining, the first release from the album, charted at number 40 this week, with “Oh My” at number 44, in total 10 of the singles from the project charted in the top 100 single charts. Without a doubt, there’s nothing but more success on the way for Nines.
Amongst Nines and J Cole in the singles charts, we have the now regular name that is B Young, who after 16 weeks charts is still in the top 20 at number 14 with “Jumanji”, a non-mover from last week. Props also go to M.O, Mr Eazi and Lotto Boyzz as their track “Bad Vibe” has climbed one place to 21 from last week’s 22 after 13 weeks on the chart. Also worth noting is Yxng Bane with his track “Vroom” who has charted at number 31 this week.
After his previous two releases “Barking” and “Power”, Ramz is back with “Family Tree” which has entered the chart at number 58 this week, we’re predicting this one’s a climber. If you haven’t seen the Kalyum Dennis directed visuals for this one, take a look here.
That’s about it for this week. Check back next week on GRM Daily and find out if Nines is still overtaking the charts.
