With the success some of our home grown acts have been having in the charts over the last 12 months, it’s no wonder that many of them find themselves nominated for BRIT Awards. Gone are the days of talent from the scene being snubbed at these mainstream red carpet events, they’re finally getting the recognition the forefathers could only dream of. The chart success they’ve seen would have equally been referred to as a pipedream less than a decade ago. On that note, let’s take a look at some of this week’s chart success stories!

We haven’t had a major album drop from one of the heavyweights in the scene for a minute, so it’s The Hustla and Stormz who continue to carry the flag for the scene in the album charts both placing at 24 and 33 respectively.

Just when you thought that Ramz and “Barking” had peaked last week, he goes and takes it up a notch and finds himself at number two in the singles chart, with the likes of Ed Sheeran and Eminem for company. It’s clear that Ramz’s catchy banger has really resonated with the people and this has been reflected in the sales and streams.

Slightly lower down the charts at number 15 is an equally wavy hit from Raye and Mr Eazi entitled “Decline”. Sharp eared listeners might recognise the sample from the noughties smash hit “Always On Time” by Ja Rule and Ashanti. Slotted in just a few places lower at 17, is Not3s with “My Lover” and still inside the top 20 is Big Shaq and “Mans Not Hot”. The incredibly talent Mr Daapah has been back at work bringing out more content from the rest of his characters from #SWIL; check out Dr Ofori’s opinions on New Year’s Resolutions!

Dave and Mo Stack continue to go strong spending another week in the top 20, with “No Words” coming in at number 20. Alongside Dave, J Hus and “Bouff Daddy”, the last single to drop from the album, is still riding high in the charts at 27.

The man who can do no wrong, Stormzy, has entered the chart again with his Bond Film esque collaboration with Jorja Smith “Let Me Down”. Be sure to check back next week for the most definitive UK scene chart round up and catch up on last week’s here.
