For scope we always try and keep our chart stories confined to our shores. There is an exception to every rule however, British songstress Ella Mai is this week’s exception. Many may not have heard the name before, but Ella Mai has been plying her trade for a number of years now.

After a very brief stint on X Factor as part of a group she decided to fly solo eventually releasing a trio of EPs Time, Change and Ready. The latter containing “Boo’d Up”; a track that has seen her scale the dizzying heights of the Billboard 100 clambering to number 11. Amassing 35 million views on Youtube but still yet to impact the UK charts, these stateside statistics are surely a foreshadowing to Ella Mai’s global success. With that in mind, let’s have a look at exactly who has been impacting the UK charts this week.

Yxng Bane’s collaborative effort with Ella Eyre and Banx and Ranx “Answerphone” is our highest placing this week moving into the number five spot. The wavy visuals currently only have 8.6 million views but with the infectious nature of the tune this is sure to soar.

EO’s “German” is still going from strength to strength and has moved up another two places and the top ten is now within touching distance, coming in at number 13 this week. The infectious banger has quickly filled the void left by B Young’s “Jumanji” which was similarly an immovable object in the charts a few weeks prior. M/O, Lotto Boyzz and Mr Eazi are few places lower scooping the number 20 spot a slight improvement on last week’s number 21. Mr Eazi recently dropped a wavy collaboration with the none other than the Landlord himself, Giggs; on a track entitled “London Town” be sure to check out the future hit right here.

YXNG Bane’s second appearance in the charts comes in the shape of “Vroom”; which has moved up to number 27 after being at number 32 last week. The progress may have something to do with the hard remix that just dropped. Bane has enlisted dancehall royalty Beenie Man to bless the track with a guest verse. With classics like “Dude”, “Girl Dem Sugar” and “Who am I”- it really cannot be overstated what a big deal it is for Bane to have a legend like Beenie Man feature alongside him. If you missed the waves, be sure to catch the tune which was exclusively premiered on GRM Daily right here.

After featuring just outside the top 40 last week, Ramz’s track “Family Tree” has clinched the number 40 spot this week, an artist who is continually making movements,  be sure to keep it locked on GRM Daily for any further developments.

Dappy and Ay Em’s summer tune “Oh My” is sure to make its way into the top 40 as Dappy finally delivers on some remarks he made in his DJ Target In Depth interview, promising to release some afrobeat esque vibes, which can most certainly heard on this latest jam- as one of the originators of the rapping/singing fusion that has become so popular in recent years; it will be interesting to see which direction Dappy takes his music. Be sure to check back next week for the latest developments.
