Infamous man of the moment Donald Trump, while also known for being a d*ckhead, is also renowned for his property and investment opportunities. He’s branded hotels, casinos, golf courses, steaks and the White House, but also very nearly branded something much more closer to home for us.

Back in 2012 when Rangers F.C entered administration, Mr President was working on opening his first Scottish golf course in the village of Balmedie near Aberdeen. He’d previously ran the New Jersey generals, an American football club that was part of the United States Football league back in the 1980s. Trump heard about the opportunity to bail out the club and did take an interest, but in the end, despite his Scottish roots, the club’s financial situation was too appalling for even Trump to try and save.

In another attempt at entering the world of sports, rumours began to surface in 2015 that Trump and Alessandro Proto, Italian real estate mogul, were part of a bid to acquire Columbian powerhouse Atlético Nacional. You’ve probably heard of the club before if you’re a fan of Narcos – Nacional is the club that Escobar began to fund and be involved with as part of an open secret, improving the team massively.

It would’ve been pretty entertaining to follow the farce of Trump trying to save Rangers, but the loss is probably worth it to keep him as far away from us as possible.
