Donald Trump has once again demonstrated his power and influence, this time by wiping off $1billion from Boeing’s stockmarket value.
The new US president isn’t unfamiliar with causing controversy and can often be counted upon to stir some kind of outrage on social media. However, it is now also evident that by flexing his finger muscles on a keyboard, he can have a pretty destructive affect on companies too.
Trump stated on Twitter, “Boeing is building a brand new 747 Air Force One for future presidents, but costs are out of control, more than $4 billion. Cancel order!”
Boeing is the major US manufacturer of airplanes. As a result of Donald Trump’s tweet, the company dropped by 1% from it’s trading value at the start of day ($152.16 per share) – to $149.75 per share later on Tuesday, according to FactSet.
Another day, another dollar, right Donald?!
