With Drake’s upcoming LP Scorpion set to release next month, the 6 Man alongside his OVO camp surprise dropped a brand new single on last nights OVO Sound Radio featuring Lil Baby, entitled “Pikachu”.
Being the first collaborative effort from the pair, the song sees Drake once again experiment with his artistry, rapping over a beat that sees a Pierre Bourne-esque 808 in use. In anticipation for his album, the OVO team released the track as they have done in the past, around the time Drake is set to release a body of work. Known as scary hours, “Pikachu” released late at night for all the night owls tuning into Drakes prestigious OVO Sound Radio slot on Apple Music’s Beats 1.
The verse we get from Drake strikes the ear immediately as something we have heard from him in the past during his If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late era, with vintage strip club imagery and commenting on the loyalty within his exclusive circle, again name dropping long term friend and Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant, someone who in the past Drake has explained as someone who he dearly resonates with.
Lil Baby, the Atlanta rapper has himself, been coming up hugely in 2018, not only due to his mentor Young Thug showing him constant support, but also due to the work he has been putting in with heavyweights such as Southside and Gunna.
