A drug dealer operating in the Powys area in Wales attempted to evade police by claiming he was a ‘key woker’ on his way home from a night shift.
Unfortunately for Benjamin Evans, the police were unconvinced and a search led to the patrol to find £57 000 within his Ford Focus.
According to Wales Online, Evans wore hi-visibility clothes while driving along the A40 Brecon bypass but police had already received intelligence reports to doubt the 26-year-old’s claims of being a key worker.
The police said of Evans’ arrest: “Trying to pass himself off as a key worker did not succeed. Possessing drugs with the intent to supply does not qualify as essential work.”
Police in the area hope that this arrest will discourage further activity and will act as a warning that even in these times of lockdown, they will pursue criminals as usual.
Evans pleaded guilty and will be senetenced at Swansea Crown Court on 20th May.
