South-east London’s rising star ENNY has returned with the visuals for “Peng Black Girls” featuring Amia Brave.
On her latest track, ENNY uses her authentic lyricism to provide some uplifting words to all the young Black queens out there, while also coming through with some empowering lyrics for the Black kings on the second verse. Amia’s delicate vocals provide the track with a smooth hook, adding to the moving feel of the single.
Speaking on “Peng Black Girls”, ENNY said: “PBG was written from a place of my subconscious. Looking at my family, friends or even random women and just thinking wow, society and your own culture will tell you you’re not beautiful because your skin is a certain shade, or your features don’t look a certain way.
“Now looking back at it, PBG was the beginning of me not caring and just being happy as I am – a complicated British Nigerian girl from south-east London with some very African features.”
Enny described the video as “an ode to being multi-dimensional”, adding “we can be classy cultured or ‘hood’ but there’s no right or wrong way to be a black girl/woman.”
