It’s actually one step closer to coming home as England have just beaten Denmark to secure their place in the Euro 2020 final!

The two sides took part in a tense semi-final match-up at Wembley Stadium this evening (July 7) which ended in a 2-1 England win.

Denmark’s Mikkel Daamsgard scored the first goal of the game during the 30th minute, with England’s equaliser coming in the form of an own goal from Simon Kæjer nine minutes later. The winning goal came from Harry Kane who went on to score on the rebound of his missed penalty in the first half of extra time.

Denmark are now officially out of the tournament while England have earned a spot in this Sunday’s final against Italy, who beat Spain on penalties last night.

It’s the first time England have ever gotten past the semi-final stage in a European Championship, and also England’s first time in a major final since the 1966 World Cup.

We’ll have to wait until Sunday 11th July to see if England can finally bring it home for the nation!
