Boxing fans were in utter shock yesterday when the announcement was made that Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. had been stripped of the Welterweight World title he won after beating Manny Pacquiao this year for “failing to comply with rules”. What an absolute madness.
It has been publicised by WBO, that Money Mayweather missed a deadline by which he had to pay a $200,000 sanctioning fee and also give back the Junior Middleweight title he also held.
It was also stated that, it is against jurisdiction for a boxer to hold world titles in multiple weight classes and that Money May had to indicate which weight division he would retain. Mayweather had until 4.30pm last Friday to inform WBO of his position.
After what we assume to be a lengthy debate, the following statement was issued by WBO:
“The WBO World Championship Committee is allowed no other alternative but to cease to recognise Mr. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. as the WBO Welterweight Champion of the World and vacate his title, for failing to comply with our WBO Regulations of World Championship Contests.”

It all sounds like bunch of legal politics that will never overshadow that Floyd Money Mayweather is the undisputed champ. Thoughts?
