A footballer has been suspended from playing for five years after being involved in a violent post-match altercation.
The incident happened in eastern France last November following a game between second division sides Terville and Soetrich.
After the game, two players from each side were involved in a scuffle which saw a Soetrich player bite the penis of a Terville player, in which the victim had to receive 10 stitches and take 4 days off work.
The fight resulted in a disciplinary tribunal in which the attacker was banned from playing for five years, while the victim was also banned for six months.
Emmanuel Saling of the Mosellan Football District has said: “The events took place after the match, in the stadium car park. There was an altercation, an escalation and things got worse.”
“It’s quite rare to have sanctions of several years, there are less than 10 per year. The case was a bit saucy, but…there must have been some nasty tension, so the smiles on the disciplinary committee quickly faded.”
