In this week’s news, Fortnite’s Champion Series, the game’s primary competitive series, will offer a total of £14.6million ($20 million) in prize money this year.
The cross-platform royal rumble will see players compete in planned weekly qualifiers, leading to semi-finals and eventually, finals played on distanced weekends in an attempt to avoid player fatigue.
The initial trio of weekly qualifiers are planned for the first three weeks of next month, with semi- finales planned next in the first week of March and the finals after.
For the first time in the tournament’s history, the gaming event will be internationally broadcasted with options for multiple languages such as French, Spanish and German.
The gameplay will also feature new elements. IO guards and Elevators will be disabled and nerf movement will be restricted.
The Fortnite Champion Series will follow the cancellation of the Fortnite World Cup last year.
