Former Chelsea midfielder and current manager Frank Lampard is unsure if his reappointment at the club was a result of James Corden recommending him to owner Todd Boehly.
The rumours had been circulating in the media since Lampard’s reappointment, however, during a recent press conference, he has dismissed the claims.
“I saw the headline of James Cordon,” he said. “I’m absolutely not aware of whether it’s true or not, but it’s obviously great headline to put together casually from the outside.
“I think when I look at the success of Todd Boehly, the owners of Chelsea Football Club, I think you have to respect that success and respect the idea that they’ll probably make decisions based [on] more than a conversation with one person.”
Lampard had previously managed Derby County before taking over the reins at the West London club. In his first season as manager, he guided the team to a top-four finish in the Premier League and reached the final of the FA Cup.
