London-based artist and producer Fred again.. has shared his first ever album titled Actual Life (April 14 – December 17 2020).
This album was inspired by a chance encounter Fred had with a construction worker named Carlos after a show in Atlanta, a moment that was captured in video in which we hear Carlos proclaim: “I want you to see me, friend! We gon’ make it through”.
From this night, Fred began to catalogue momentary snippets by placing them on music; capturing clips from nights out, voice notes and social media to turn experiences into tracks.
The result? A diverse-sounding album, filled with electro-pop cuts, that capture many different feelings and emotions, as well as the way Fred sees and hears the world.
Actual Life follows on from Fred again..’s joint tape with Headie One, GANG, which dropped last year.
While this tape might be his first album, Fred again.. already has his eyes set on the future, recently telling NME about his plans to keep sharing projects similar to this going forward.
“The plan is to do two albums a year of this because I want it to feel like a rotating diary that just keeps existing,” he said. “I want to carry on sampling the world.”
