G4 Boyz are back with a bang in the form of their new drop “Baba”!
Initially rising to notoriety with their brooding, infectious brand of ‘scam drill’, tracks like “Local Scammer” and “In Scam We Trust” cemented their status as ones to watch.
Over two years since making those initial waves, G4 Boyz have cultivated a loyal, cult global fanbase. This has been particularly prominent in London – likely a result of both the prominence of British producers handling their beats and the presence of their British counterpart G4choppa on their tracks.
“Baba” is the latest release by the Brooklyn collective. Tapping M1OnTheBeat for production, the track starts with a sample of SZA’s “I Hate You” before descending into a jumpy, braggadocious anthem. At less than 2 minutes, the track is short but sweet. You don’t get the sense G4 Boyz are trying to reinvent the wheel with this one; it’s a structurally simple, no-nonsense ode to the scam life we all know they love and we’re here for it.
