With Game of Thrones ending last year, fans have eagerly been waiting for a spin-off series to arrive but they’ll have to wait some time for the first one, House of the Dragon, to arrive.
The head of programming at HBO, Casey Bloys, revealed at the TCAs that House of the Dragon is still in its early stages and will be released “some time in 2022”.
Speaking to Deadline, Bloys said: “They are starting writing,” adding “Obviously, it’s a big, complicated show.”
House of the Dragon – which is expected to premiere on HBO’s streaming service – will begin with ten episodes and will be set 300 years before Game of Thrones, focusing on the House of Targaryen.
Following the announcement of the spin-off, HBO said it would feature “the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour”.
House of the Dragon is said to be one of many GoT spin-offs in development at the moment, as the creator of the franchise claimed back in September that there were five such shows in the works.
