A doctor has warned gamers ahead of the release of EAFC 25 that playing the game too much can cause erectile dysfunction.
Dr Ashwin Sharma of MedExpress gave gamers the warning, referencing a recent study which found that men who spend more than five hours a day watching TV, gaming or looking at the computer were three times more likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction than men who only spend an hour a day using the same technology.
Speaking direct to EAFC fans ahead of its launch later this month, Dr Ashwin Sharma said, “With any major game release, it’s common for players to spend extended hours sitting in front of screens. However, many may be unaware of the long-term impact a sedentary lifestyle can have on their overall health, particularly their sexual health. Prolonged sitting and lack of physical activity can negatively affect circulation and cardiovascular health, which are critical for maintaining sexual function.”
Offering some advice to gamers, Dr Sharma encourages them to take regular breaks from the screen and that physical activity is made part of their gaming sessions – “I recommend getting up and moving around for at least 5-10 minutes every hour to help improve circulation, reduce the risks associated with prolonged sitting, and enhance overall well-being,” adds the medical professional.
Erectile dysfunction has many causes and is very common – more information and support can be found on the NHS website.
