Set in London, Gassed Up stars Stephen Odubola as Ash, a 20-year-old from London who is trying his best to support his younger sister and his mother. Ash’s mother needs rehab and he finds himself joining a moped gang to help make ends meet.
The luxury lifestyle and easy money leads Ash and his friends down a dark path and they eventually end up tangled up with an Albanian crime family.
Stephen Odubola leads the cast following his critically acclaimed performance in Rapman’s Blue Story as well as his role in British independent film A Violent Man.
Also starring is Taz Skylar who currently stars in Netflix’s One Piece as well as the BBC’s Boiling Point. Steve Toussaint, Craige Middleburg, Jelena Gavrilovic and Mohammed Mansaray also star.
Director George Amponsah has won multiple awards and has received two BAFTA nominations. His most notable work includes his feature long documentary The Hard Stop, BAFTA nominated Black Power: A British Story of Resistance as well as the six-part documentary Enslaved.
Just recently, Gassed Up won the audience award for Best Feature at the 2023 BFI London Film Festival. Gassed Up will launch in cinemas nationwide on Friday 9th February before coming to Amazon Prime on Friday 29th March.
