A girlfriend has accidentally thrown away her boyfriend’s £569 million Bitcoin fortune – leaving them panicked and anxious to find it.
Halfina Eddy-Evans revealed to the Daily Mail that she accidently disposed of the key to her boyfriend James Howell’s Bitcoin. Lost on James’ hard drive, the couple are appealing to their local council in Wales for the right to search the landfill.
The Bitcoin was mined by James back in 2009 and the worth of the 8,000 coins has skyrocketed to £569 million.
Halfina told the Daily Mail, “I had no idea what was in it but I reluctantly dropped it off at the local tip on the way home from going on the school run.I thought he should be running his errands, not me, but I did it to help out. Losing it was not my fault.”
The hard drive was accidentally disposed of after it was removed from a computer due to water damage.
Since the mishap, the couple have struggled to have a harmonius relationship.
Now James will have to take the council to court in order to get permission to search the landfill as due to their environmental policy, they are not able to allow him access. James is also suing the council for £495,314,800.
