As part of our Give Daily initiative, we’re highlighting charities and social enterprises to support and today the spotlight is on Mentivity.

Founded in 2016, Mentivity is an inspirational mentoring organisation and alternative educational provision; providing aspirational support for young people, schools and parents through 1:1 mentoring and group conversation-based learning.

Mentivity also focuses on so called BAME centred sessions around issues that BAME students face within education and society such as identity, stereotyping and more.

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Mentivity launched its virtual youth club, virtual mentoring for young people and families and physical activity sessions via Zoom.

Mentivity also recently began working with The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan on the Mayor’s Action Plan for Policing, to help improve transparency, accountability and trust in the Metropolitan Police.

The organisation also initiated a ground-breaking, solution-led training programme that was launched at New Scotland Yard in June 2020 and will continue into 2021. The sessions focus on improving the awareness & understanding of conscious bias, racism, the historical context of policing the Black British Community, and the importance of having cultural equity when carrying MPS duties. They also raise the importance of having positive, unbiased interactions with the Black British community particularly around Stop & Search.

As a not for profit community interest company, Mentivity are now relying on funding and donations to deliver their work and to find out how you can support and for more information, click here.
