Gorillaz team up with Yasiin Bey And Omar Souleyman for new track “Damascus”.
Co-written by Damon Albarn, Omar Souleyman, and Yasiin Bey, and recorded across five cities — Damascus, London, Devon, Mumbai, and New York — “Damascus” brings together Syrian Bedouin music icon Omar Souleyman and acclaimed rapper-vocalist Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def). The track has already become a standout among listeners, first unveiled live during an unannounced performance of The Mountain at London’s Copper Box Arena in September. It later sparked euphoric reactions at Madrid’s Gaia Festival and at Together For Palestine at Wembley Arena, where Damon Albarn and the Gorillaz touring band were joined onstage by The London Arab Orchestra.
The Mountain marks Gorillaz’ ninth studio album, presenting a vast and immersive sound world built from a kaleidoscope of instruments, rhythms, and voices. Spanning 15 tracks, the record is a celebration of the band’s long-standing commitment to collaboration, weaving together infectious grooves, layered melodies, and global sonic textures.
