In a bid to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, the UK government has launched a campaign to recruit 250,000 NHS volunteers.
Speaking at an e-conference in Downing Street, the health secretary Matt Hancock said: “”We are seeking a quarter of a million volunteers, people in good health to help the NHS, for shopping, for the delivery of medicines and to support those who are shielding to protect their own health.”
Hancock also announced a hospital, with a capacity of 4,000 people, will open at the ExCel centre in east London next week.
The new announcements from the government come after the number of deaths related to coronavirus rose to 422.
