The Government issued a level three amber heat alert as it looks like temperatures are set to keep rising. Yesterday saw highs reach 32 degrees celsius, making it the hottest day of 2017 so far.
Estimates show that temperatures are due to peak at a roasting 34C – hotter than the Bahamas – in certain parts of the country before cooling down a few degrees by this weekend.
The alert has been issued by Public Health England until Wednesday 21st June, one level below level four. Level four is considered a “national emergency”and would confirm that we’re in the midst of a heatwave. Sh*t den.
The Met and the NHS also encourages people to stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm, wear sun cream and always carry a bottle of water.
