Today, guys, we have reached peak Britain. Favourite pastry outlet Greggs has had to apologise for its new Nativity ad campaign in which Baby Jesus is replaced by a giant sausage roll.

The image, supposed to promote Greggs’ new advent calendar, is of the traditional nativity scene with the three wise men surrounding Baby Jesus, but literally with a sausage roll in Baby Jesus’ cot.

Just to deep the actual situation at hand, here is the full offensive image:

Not everyone took the image lightheartedly though. Some people pointed out that the image may cause offence because Jesus was Jewish and eating pork is forbidden in the Jewish faith, while some were offended simply because, well, Baby Jesus is now a sausage roll.

One person tweeted, “Out of interest do you think the people at Greggs understand that Jesus was Jewish and serving up a pork sausage roll in the manger is unbelievably inappropriate?”

These guys were frustrated:

And of course some people were offended that their fave Greggs pastry wasn’t picked to be our Lord and Saviour.
